The Major Dunbar Home

Located directly off the DePauw campus, in the highly-coveted Eastern Enlargement Historic District, the attention to detail and premium amenities at Major Dunbar House will knock your socks off!! Enjoy our gourmet kitchen, 1st floor Master Suite, 3-spacious upstairs bedrooms, and 2.5 bathrooms. Our house can comfortably sleep 9 guests (with 5 individual beds, total). We are proud to serve the Greencastle and DePauw communities and we frequently welcome wedding-party guests from nearby venues.

As the closest residential home to the DePauw University main campus, our neighborhood is shared by several campus buildings and student residences. To the rear is the Delta Tau Delta fraternity house. You may occasionally hear music playing during the day or in the evening. The members of the house are careful to end all activities by a reasonable hour, so you likely won't be disturbed, but please be aware of this when classes are in session if events are taking place.

Our neighbors across the street are members of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity house. They are equally cautious about being respectful of the neighborhood by keeping things quiet and you shouldn't be bothered by them, but just a heads up if you see any activity in their front yard.

You'll enjoy the entire house and even have a private garage, should you choose.

Parking is either in the extra-wide, 2-car garage, in front of the garage on the concrete driveway, or in front of the house on the street. Free parking is plentiful throughout the historic district.

ACCESSIBILITY NOTE:

While the Major Dunbar House features a comfortable first-floor master bedroom suite, access to the house requires navigating a few stairs in front, or in back. Please be aware of this detail as the house is NOT wheelchair accessible. Guests with mobility concerns may find difficulty walking up the front steps. We are happy to clarify any accessibility questions in advance of your stay, just let us know!
